  • “I think I’m fine, I feel great”, said Mauk, on Wednesday July 16 during the third day of SEC media days.

Mauk says he thinks he got sick because of the extra working out and conditioning he had been doing to recover from a sore back.

Gary Pinkel, head coach of the Tigers, agrees with Mauk and even goes on to say Mauk planned to play at a lesser weight this season all along in order to be quicker on the field.

In 2013, Mauk threw for 1,071 yards and 11 touchdowns with two interceptions. He also ran the ball 41 times for 229 yards and a touchdown. This season he will be expected to do a lot more with the flashes of brilliance that were seen by the Mizzou faithful during his short time in the spotlight. Most believe their SEC East title hopes seem to rest with him now.
