Missouri Tigers Fans Decide Name of New Section, Tailgate Spot

The Missouri Tigers have named the new section at Memorial Stadium, as well as the new tailgate terrace, thanks to a fan vote to help give them their titles.

The aptly named “Tiger Deck” is what the newly constructed upper level will go by and the tailgate spot will be known as “Truman’s Terrace,” named, of course, for Mizzou’s mascot, Truman.

  • The monikers for the new add-ons were decided by a fan vote on head coach Gary Pinkel’s official website, Gary Pinkel.com. Thousands of people responded to the vote and the two winners stood out to people who wanted recognizable “Mizzou brand” words attached to the project.

Along with the terrace and upper deck, Mizzou also announced the name of the East side club that will be located inside the new upper level will be called “the Columns Club.” These new additions were part of a multi-million dollar renovation and construction project that began over a year ago.

The terrace will be a hot commodity for Tiger fans who have been looking for new and better ways to celebrate with pre-game festivities in recent years, ever since an area of Columbia known as “Reactor” was no longer open for tailgating.

“This brand new tailgate area will give fans access to food buffets, cash bars, live music entertainment and a TV viewing area, among other amenities, and the area will be open pre-game, at halftime, and post-game for a defined period of time,” an MU press release said. “That allows fans to have hassle-free parties to celebrate football Saturdays with all of their friends and families!”

Mizzou opens their season on August 30 at home versus South Dakota State, when the new attractions will be put to use for the first time.
