College Gameday To Cover Missouri Tigers VS. South Carolina Gamecocks
By Derek Franks
ESPN’s flagship College Football Saturday Preview show College GameDay will broadcast live from Columbia, South Carolina, where the Missouri Tigers travel there for a showdown with the Game Cocks. It will be the first time in this young season that the popular program will air in SEC country.

The well-known crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso will host the show, televised Saturday Mornings, from the South Carolina campus, to get fans across the nation watching from home prepared for what is usually recognized as the “game of the week.”
The announcement comes somewhat as a surprise, as South Carolina was beaten in the first week of the season and struggled mightily against lowly Vanderbilt last Saturday, and Mizzou suffered an embarrassing loss to an even lowlier Indiana team on the same day.
But, it is very likely that the last meeting between these two teams had something to do with it. South Carolina stunned Missouri last season in front of its home crowd on Homecoming in one what is regarded as one of the best games of the 2013 season. The double overtime thriller ended on a heartbreaking missed field goal.
That contest likely made it easy for the College GameDay producers to choose the rematch as the destination for this weeks broadcast.

Having your game featured on GameDay is a huge boost to a program’s credibility and a testament to success on the football field.
It will be the first time since joining the SEC that the Tigers will be showcased by the preview program. South Carolina has hosted the show a number of times, and the Gamecocks have won the last two times it has come to its campus– in 2010 against Alabama and in 2012 over Georgia.
It will be the second time Mizzou has been featured on GameDay, the first coming in their own Columbia, Missouri, back in 2011 when the Tigers upset the No. 1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in a iconic victory for Mizzou. The fans rushing of the field- and the subsequent marching of the torn down goal post to the landmark Bar, Harpo’s, in downtown Columbia, is one of the most memorable moments in the history of the program.
The game kicks off on Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN, with Missouri being a 6-point underdog.
