While we await a few recruits’ decisions, one prospect has proclaimed that if he plays for Missouri this year, the team could win its first National Championship.

Can you imagine the destruction that will occur in 2017 if the Missouri Tigers land Jontay Porter, Jeremiah Tilmon, and Kevin Knox?

Semantics aside, if the Tigers are able to draw all three big-name recruits, including Jontay Porter’s reclassification, and retain signee Blake Harris, Missouri basketball will be a monster of talent on the court; the recruiting class will rank top-10 in the country.

More from Truman's Tales

According to Kyle Tucker, of SEC Country, Porter stated that the “sky is the limit” for the Tigers with its current recruiting class.

If he reclassified and plays for Mizzou in 2017 instead of 2018, the Tigers have a solid chance of winning the NCAA National Championship. Most would agree.

"Mike’s such a ridiculous player, surrounded by other talent, I think the sky is the limit. A lot of people will call me crazy if I say this, but I think they could win a national championship."

In the meantime, Missouri awaits commitment decisions from 5-star recruit Kevin Knox, 4-star recruit Jeremiah Tilmon, and currently ranked (2018) five-star recruit Jontay Porter.

While Porter reaffirmed his commitment to Missouri is more a matter of when, than if, Knox will make his final decision in the coming week, and Tilmon looks to be Missouri’s for the taking.

Ranked 23rd in the Class of 2018 by Rivals, Porter is very excited for the opportunity to return to his roots in Columbia, and play ball with his brother.

"That would be great, not just in basketball. Being able to play with each other would be nice, but just doing life together, being roommates, taking the same classes, would be great."

So far, all the stars have aligned for Missouri. Imagine a 2017-18 draft class of Michael Porter, Jr., Blake Harris, CJ Roberts, Jeremiah Tilmon*, Kevin Knox*, and Jontay Porter**.

The recruiting class doesn’t even include the possibility of graduate transfer Kassius Robinson joining the Tigers in 2017. Robinson’s addition to the recruiting class would be a huge boost in the Tigers’ run for a championship.

This is probably the most exciting recruiting season in the history of Missouri basketball.
