With last season in Missouri’s rearview mirror, we take a look at five players who are set to have a breakout season in 2017.

The 2016 season was a major disappointment for Missouri. The Tigers dominated games they should have, had a few expected losses, and lost some games they shouldn’t have.

This season begs to be a difference maker for Mizzou, as the Tigers return a number of players from last season, especially on offense.

Last season saw a number of athletes on the brink of an outstanding season, but injuries hampered some, while suspensions, and learning a new system affected others.

In 2016, quarterback play was better than it could have been at times, while also being worse than it should have been at others. Let’s call the performance at the position better-than-average – promising.

The receiving game was similar; it could have been better at times, spare some bonehead mistakes, but it also was better than expected at other times.

The Tigers’ ground offense was spectacular when healthy, but struggled when talented players were lacking.

When I consider all the talent on offense that is returning for the 2017 season, it’s difficult not to feel a sense of confidence in Mizzou’s chances of competing for an eight or nine win season, at a minimum.

This is not intended to be a list of Missouri’s five best, but some of the Tigers’ best players who

could

should find their way in this predictor.
