Mizzou hoops goes up against a 4-0 Morehead State team that hasn’t had great competition yet this season.

The Mizzou basketball team has started out the season playing great defense, and that has led to a 3-1 record. Tonight, Mizzou hoops will battle Morehead State, giving the Tigers a chance to knock off an undefeated team.

It shouldn’t be too hard, as the Eagles’ competition so far this year is against Samford, Spalding, Presbyterian and Maryland Eastern Shore. Here’s a look at tonight’s game:

Tonight’s game is the final tune-up for the Tigers before they play in the Hall of Fame Classic against Butler and either Stanford or Oklahoma at the Sprint Center.

It should be a good matchup for the Mizzou guards as Morehead State runs its offense through point guard Justin Thomas and shooting guard Jordan Walker. Thomas is averaging five assists per game with a 55 percent field-goal percentage while Walker leads the team with nearly 14 points a game.

The Eagles are smaller at every position in the starting lineup against the Tigers, and once again it could be a dominating night for Jeremiah Tilmon. Look for Mizzou’s defense to remain tough while the offense tries to improve before the season gets a bit tougher.

After tonight’s game, Butler will play Morehead State on Friday. That gives the Tigers two common opponents already in the young season ahead of Monday’s matchup against Butler.

Next up: The Tigers head to Kansas City to play Butler in the Hall of Fame Classic on Monday.
