Good Morning Mizzou fans!

I’m sure you all had a fun-filled, and busy Saturday afternoon like I did watching football all day long. The Missouri Tigers had a bye this week, so I figured that now would be a perfect time to do a re-cap on the season thus far and to get a look at upcoming opponents.

The Tigers are (3-4) and are stil (0-4) in the SEC conference. We are still looking for that first win in the SEC. Hopefully that win doesn’t come during basketball season.

Mizzou has not lived up to expectations for this season quite yet. We have been in unfortunate circumstances and have been injury prone for a lot of the year.

QB James Franklin has been merely average and backup red-shirt freshman QB Corbin Berkstresser hasn’t been much better in games which he filled in for an injured Franklin.]

We have had our bright spots throughout the season though. The defense has looked stellar at times, with flashes of brilliance. At other times, not so much.

RB Kendial Lawrence has been a plus this season. On 95 carries he has rushed for 524 yards and 5 touchdowns with 5.5 yards per carry.

There is still hope for the Missouri Tigers, we are not finished by any means. Look for Pinkel to rally the troops during this weekend of rehabilitation. QB James Franklin will have an extra weekend of rest and should be ready to go against Kentucky in Columbia on October 27th. This weekend is a must-win for the Missouri Tigers.

Here is our upcoming opponents:

Oct. 27th vs Kentucky

Nov. 3rd @ #2 Florida

Nov. 10th @ Tennessee

Nov. 17th vs Syracuse

Nov. 20th @ #20 Texas A&M

Looking at this schedule, our chances look pretty slim. Probably our toughest game ahead of us falls on November 3rd @ #2 Florida.

This year has been much of a roller-coaster ride. Some games we have looked tremendous and some we have looked pathetic (Alabama). But who doesn’t? Anyways. The point being that we still have a chance to make ourselves known as long as we take advantage of circumstances we are put in and capitalize in the red zone.

What do you think Mizzou fans?

Can we prove we belong in the SEC the rest of this season or do you believe we will sink to the bottom?

Get excited Mizzou basketball fans, get real excited.

Last Friday night tipped off the beginning of events for the Missouri Tiger mens basketball team when they did the annual “Mizzou Madness”. This event includes scrimmages by both the mens and womens basketball teams, and also a slam-dunk contest that senior guard Keion Bell won.

This is my absolute favorite time of the year. Over the next couple of weeks we will be going over strengths and weaknesses of this years team and where we rank in the NCAA.

I really feel that this could be a special year for the Tigers. Guard Phil Pressey will look to have a breakout year while others like forward Lawrence Bowers and quard Micheal Dixon will do all they can to help the team succeed and get far into the tournament.

The most exciting move that the Missouri Tigers made this offseason was when they brought in forward Alex Oriakhi from UCONN! I don’t know if that name rings a bell to you but if you know college basketball then you know that he has already won the NCAA tournament once with Kemba Walker! This guy is a complete manimal. He is the missing piece that the Tigers needed all year last year.

The sky is the limit for us this year. We have size, talent, and heart.

Frank Haith stepped into the program and continued the winning tradition that we are all starting to know. I remember when everyone was down on the Fraink Haith hiring, but look at our team now. I almost want to cry when I look at the size and talent we have on our team.

Could it be Mizzou fans? Do we have something to prove to this nation? We know our strengths as a school, one of those strengths is playing fundamental basketball.

I will be going more in depth in the upcoming days about more new faces in the Tigers program this year that some people may not know of quite yet!

Have a great day guys! Looking forward to this season and sharing all of it with you!

Well folks what can we say? We were up against the nations most talented team. We also showed the nation who RB Eddie Lacey was by walking all over us on 18 carries for 177 yards and 3 rushing TDs. Wowsers. Big plays were critical in today’s epic failure of playing competitive football.

The game got off to such a spectacular start when Eddie Lacey on the second play of scrimmage took it to the house on a 73 yard run, and it was all over from there.

Pretty sad huh? When it’s the second play of the game and you already know you have lost? Just a terrible feeling,

The game went from bad to worse, Alabama scoring 3 touchdowns in the first quarter.

Not to use this as an excuse but if you were watching the game then you could tell that the weather was absolutely horrid. It was a downpour to the extreme. I am not by any means giving the Tigers a pass for their performance, but I am 75% sure that the weather played a major role in todays game. Mizzou never could get in a groove the whole first half.

After the second touchdown from another Alabama RB T.J. Yeldon, halfway through the second quarter, there was a 38 minute rain delay. When play finally resumed Alabama kicked the extra point from the previous TD and kicked it off…. to our man WR Marcus Murphy who brisked through Alabama defenders and ran it all the way back making the score 28-7 . Could it be? Could we maybe pull a comeback?

The answer is no. It was actually the very opposite of that. We let them dominate us. Mentally, physically, and any other “ally” you can think of.

The Missouri Tigers were spanked today by the big boys in the SEC. It was not a competitive, spirited moment to be Missouri fan today. I know this team can compete with the top dogs. Having Franklin out of today’s game sure didn’t help anything.

QB Corbin Berkstresser was 11/29 for 126 yards and 2 picks. RB Kendial Lawrence had 10 carries for 37 yards. It was a very disappointing performance by the offense tonight.

What do you think Tiger fans? What does Mizzou gotta do to turn their season around?

Good night!

- Jordan Pollock, Lead Editor

Other Game Notes:

*The stadium was packed before the rain delay, when the game back on it had looked like everyone decided not to stick around and watch Missouri get destroyed. Wise choice.

*Alabama’s RB’s T.J. Yeldon and Eddie Lacey combined for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns on 36 carries. That’s just a hint to how badly Alabama laid on the Tigers.

*Even with all the negative things about today’s game, WR La’Damian Washington deserves a little recognition for his 4 catches for 72 yards.
