Recruiting: Maty Mauk is a Missouri Tiger

Rivals and Power Mizzou is reporting that QB Maty Mauk has given a solid verbal commitment to the Missouri coaching staff. Mauk has been a highly regarded recruit in the 2012 class and received offers from the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois, and Cincinnati.

Mike Dearmond of the KC Star said this in an article today:

"Listed at 6-2 and 185 pounds, some national recruiting services contend he may be closer to 6-1. Mauk, as a junior, threw for 5,670 yards and 69 touchdowns and also ran for 974 yards.Mike Farrell, national recruiting analyst for Rivals.com, told PowerMizzou.com on Thursday that:“For a spread offense, the kid is perfect. He’s a shotgun kid who they can design running plays for, who can run some option, who can work on planned roll outs and can draw a defense up with his ability to run. He’s at his best improvising it seems but he’s also solid on his reads and will hang in the pocket if he has the time.“If he were a few inches taller and had a more refined delivery (he tends to drop down to three-quarters too often) he’d be a kid with 30 plus offers. This could be another situation where a bunch of schools end up kicking themselves because they didn’t go on him, just like with Daniel.”"

This is an exciting signing for the program, and this now sets some other recruits decisions into motion including #1 QB recuit Gunner Kiel and the overall #1 recruit Dorial Green-Beckham.

This will probably mean that Kiel will not be in black and gold considering the Missouri program was going to be happy with one or the other, and the fact that he has been leaning towards Indiana as of late.

In the case of Green-Beckham, there have been reports that Mauk was in Springfield talking to DGB as recently as yesterday. If the rumors are true, we could be in for something amazing the next few years.
