Mizzou Media Predicts Tigers to Go to Holiday Bowl

Both the Columbia Missourian and the Columbia Daily Tribune looked at Mizzou’s bowl game prospects and both came to the conclusion that the Holiday Bowl is a likely landing spot for the Tigers.

Harry Plumer of the Missourian said the Tigers could go to the Holiday Bowl or the Texas Bowl:

"Missouri figures to be behind the following teams in the selection order: Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas and Texas A&M.Although the Tigers might end up with a better record and have victories against the Longhorns and Aggies, those schools’ massive fan bases would likely push them ahead of Missouri in the pecking order. That would leave Missouri and Baylor looking at the Holiday Bowl and the Texas Bowl."

The Columbia Missourian’s Dave Matter also saw the Texas Bowl as an option, and said the Insight Bowl was an unlikely place for the Tigers to return:

"Insight Bowl: Baylor vs. Ohio StateTempe doesn’t figure to covet Missouri for the third time in 12 months.Holiday Bowl: Missouri vs. UtahArizona State, maybe UCLA could be the Pac-12 choice here. A Missouri-Arizona State rematch wouldn’t be all that desirable. Don’t rule out Texas A&M either.Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas: Texas A&M vs. IowaThe Tigers could slip to Houston — or, if Texas Tech qualifies for a bowl — to New York for the Pinstripe."

It’s a fair placement. The Tigers are certainly deserving of a bowl bid, as they’re definitely better than their record due to one of the toughest schedules in the nation. However, they still have too many holes to be competitive in a bigger bowl. All in all, a Holiday Bowl isn’t too exciting, but it’s better than nothing.
