Report: Pinkel to be Suspended Two Games

facebooktwitterreddit

The Columbia Daily Tribune’s Dave Matter reports Gary Pinkel is facing a two-game suspension for his DWI arrest last night:

"Athletic Director Mike Alden will address Pinkel’s arrest with reporters at 4 p.m. today at Mizzou Arena. A source with knowledge of the situation indicated Pinkel will not coach Saturday’s home game against Texas Tech and will serve the same penalty handed down to players arrested for DWI, which has typically been a two-game suspension. Missouri (5-5, 3-4 Big 12) finishes the regular season against Kansas on Nov. 26 in Kansas City.If Pinkel does not coach Saturday, defensive coordinator Dave Steckel or offensive coordinator David Yost would likely take those duties — probably Steckel, who coaches from the field while Yost works from the coaches’ booth."

The Tribune, the Columbia Missourian, and the Maneater all reported MU Director of Media Relations Chad Moller declined to confirm or deny the report of Pinkel’s suspension.

Zoulogy staff writer Ben Wilson and I will be at the press conference and live-tweeting any breaking news developments as they occur. Follow @HankKoebler and @Ben_Wilson_1 for updates.
