Border War Finale: Will the Game Even be Close?
Kansas’ SBNation blog Rock Chalk Talk posted a “tale of the tape” feature previewing both football teams from a statistical standpoint. Rock Chalk Talk found Missouri has been better this year in every single offensive, defensive and special teams category:
"It’s official. Not a single category where Kansas statistically holds any sort of edge. Even our net punting and “improved” offense has regressed back to the back of the pack. I take this as the final sign that there has been absolutely ZERO improvement in our program from last year to this year. In fact it’s probably gotten worse.Rough two years, I suppose nothing is certain but it will be interesting to finally know if we’re starting over as we all suspect beginning next week OR if for some reason Gill returns. If he does, there will need to be NOTICEABLE improvement and sustained improvement. Based on the above chart, I don’t see how any coach can defend his work and legitimately claim that he is building a program. It’s ugly."
The statistics are available here. I know Kansas has been bad this year and Missouri has been better than its record suggests, but still. Wow.
