Texas Tech Rearranges Coaching Personnel

The Texas Tech Red Raiders suffered their first losing season in 18 years, which did not sit well with head coach Tommy Tuberville, who’s rearranging his personnel on the sidelines.

"Offensive line coach Matt Moore and defensive backs coach Otis Mounds were “dismissed,” according to a university release. Defensive line coach Sam McElroy will also “relinquish coaching duties” but his role on the future staff has yet to be determined.Instead, Tuberville is bringing in two coaches he knows very well.Terry Price will take over the defensive line coaching duties, rejoining Tuberville, who he coached with at Ole Miss and coached the defensive line at Auburn for Tuberville’s entire tenure from 1999-2008."

Mounds’ secondary gave up almost 230 yards through the air per game this season, which actually ranked second overall in the Big 12. However, Texas Tech’s defense ranked last in the conference in points allowed per game. Meanwhile Moore’s offensive line gave up 19 sacks over the course of the season, good for just fifth in protection for the conference.

Besides an impressive road victory at OU, the Red Raiders were unimpressive this season, going just 5-7 after starting the season 5-2.
