Mizzou’s Newest QB Commit: Trent Hosick

Missouri has jumped ahead of the game this year in recruiting, already receiving nine commitments for the class of 2013. Arguably the most important commit, thus far, has been quarterback Trent Hosick.

Trent Hosick Junior Year Highlights

Hosick is a 3-star recruit out of Staley High School in Missouri. For the life of me, I don’t understand why he’s only a 3-star. I can only see two issues with him. Number one is his height (he measured 6’0 at a combine), but in a spread system and with his thickness, that isn’t an issue at all. The only real issue I see is that he doesn’t have much experience as a passer. Hosick has a naturally great arm, but can be inconsistent with his fundamentals, leading to some slight issues with his throws.

Where Hosick really excels is in the run game. He’s an unbelievable athlete, with great measurables and extreme toughness. He doesn’t shy away from tacklers, often either juking them out of their shoes or just running them over. Hosick is also an accomplished wrestler, having been very successful despite wrestling in the heavyweight class.

With just a little bit of coaching, I feel that Hosick could be a superstar for the Tigers, possibly even competing for the starting job as soon as James Franklin leaves. It will most likely be between him and 2012 signee Maty Mauk.
