Missouri Arkansas State: Game Information

facebooktwitterreddit

Missouri will face the Arkansas State Red Wolves of the Sun Belt conference on Saturday. Arkansas State sits at 2-2 on the season, and doesn’t offer much of an upset threat against the Tigers. If Missouri beats the Red Wolves, they will go 4-0 for the third time in five seasons. Also, the Tigers will have a great jump on the season before SEC play begins, when they face Vanderbilt next week in the first SEC game of the season. The game will be also Missouri’s last at home until Florida comes to town on October 19th.

Missouri ranks seventh in the nation in total offense with 567 yards per game, and Arkansas State ranks 96th in the nation in total defense allowing 440 yards per game. The numbers show Mizzou should have no trouble moving the ball against the Red Wolves. I am much more interested to see the Tiger defense, specifically the 3-3-5 set that Missouri rolled out in the second half against Indiana. I want to see if over the course of the entire game, that set can be effective, or if Missouri will retreat back to its normal defensive alignments.

Prediction
Really, the best case scenario for Arkansas State is that they keep it close and only loose by a touchdown or two. I just can’t see them winning on the road against a Tiger team with some wind in their sails after three solid games. Best case scenario Mizzou? More than 500 yards of offense, and a lot of points. I think best case scenario plays out for the Tigers on Saturday.
