Missouri made a huge jump in this week’s AP Poll following a win in Athens against Georgia. The Tigers jumped from 25th to 14th, which shows how much respect Mizzou gained with that win on the road Saturday. Georgia fell all the way to 15th with a 4-2 record. Missouri and Georgia are each one of eight SEC teams in the AP Poll this week.
The Tigers won 41-26 yesterday behind a strong performance from wide receiver Leon Washington and a trio of touchdowns from a trio of Tiger running backs. However, the Tigers lost their starting QB James Franklin to injury late in the second half. The victory might be the biggest so far for Missouri since joining the SEC, and the jump in the AP Poll illustrates this win. The Tigers also gained a lot of respect with the win, and voters respected the Tiger enough to put them in the top 15 in the country.
Next week, Florida comes to Columbia to take on the Tigers. All eyes will be on Maty Mauk, who is expected to make his first start against the Gators. You can learn more about Mauk here. This game offers another chance for the Tigers to beat a ranked opponent and jump in the polls, although it will be hard without Franklin in the backfield.
