After losing seven games in a row, baseball finally got off the skids against Georgia over the weekend.

Coming off a sweep at the hands of the Florida Gators this past weekend, the Tiger baseball team was looking for answers as they took on Illinois in a midweek contest.

Kameron Misner, Kirby McGuire and Trey Harris all homered for Mizzou against the Illini, but it was not enough as the Tigers lost to their Big Ten rivals, 5-3. Starter Andy Toelken got a no decision for 5.2 innings of work, allowing just two runs (both on the first inning homer by Illinois second baseman Michael Massey).

Two nights later, they headed to Athens, Ga. to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

Staff ace Tanner Houck pitched a complete game, but the bats were silent as the hosts took game one 3-0.

The bats came to life the next night, as the Tigers won 8-5. McGuire, Misner and Harris occupied the first three spots in the lineup in this game and it paid off.

Batting third, Harris hit a two-run dinger in the first to give Mizzou the early lead. They led the rest of the way, spurred on by a five run third inning. This time, Chris Cornelius and Alex Samples both hit two run singles to power the offense. Cole Bartlett picked up the win, throwing 4.1 innings of shutout ball.

Keeping McGuire, Misner and Harris in succession proved well the next day, as Harris launched a three run shot in the fourth inning to give Mizzou a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. In the eighth, Brian Sharp hit an RBI single, and then Samples picked up a two RBI double into left to five the Tigers 6-1 lead, which is how the game would end.

The Tigers return home for six games, starting with two games in the middle of the week against Arkansas Pine Bluff. That follows with a three game set Easter weekend against Kentucky.
