Duke
GigEmGazette really went strong with an ACC theme in its list of realigning SEC hopefuls. Unlike the Big 12, I really don’t see the ACC as a weakened conference, though. But I’ll entertain it.

The addition of Duke to the SEC would be great for basketball. The Blue Devils’ football program really has improved from its days of “a one-win season is good for us, but a two-win season is ring worthy.” Duke has transformed into a program that has the ability to upset opponents, and it can outright win, as well.

I feel like if Duke left for the SEC, then Carolina just might follow, or vice versa.I grew up in North Carolina, so I’d love to see the SEC add programs like Duke, Clemson, Carolina, etc. It would be a great day for me. I’d even go so far as to say adding Penn State would be awesome, but it’s too far a reach. Back to Duke.

The addition of the Blue Devils would give the SEC exposure in the Raleigh/Durham metro area, and it would incorporate another true southeastern program.

I agree with GG’s assessment that Duke would be a 17% chance of joining the SEC. And while GG stated that theres a cultural difference between the “Dookies” and the rest of the SEC, I agree, the Cameron Crazies are a sight to behold, and at times, I believe an x-factor of sorts for the Blue Devils.
