On Saturday, the 2017 NFL Draft wrapped-up, with only one Tiger being selected. Defensive end Charles Harris, with the 22nd overall pick in the first round, went to the Dolphins, while seven were signed to undrafted free agent contracts.

Aarion Penton (DB)

Defensive back Aarion Penton was signed as an undrafted free agent, by the Los Angeles Rams.

Penton, who was the top cornerback at Mizzou for three straight seasons, offers the Rams speed and athleticism at the position. While at Missouri, Penton collected 110 tackles, 22 assists, eight for loss, 10 interceptions, and 31 broken passes.

Donavin Newsome (LB/DB)

Playing a combination of outside linebacker and defensive back while at Missouri, Donavin Newsom was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent.

Newsome, who developed into a leader both on and off the field, finished his career with the Tigers collecting 59.5 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and six broken passes.

The 49ers bring in a solid defenseman who will add depth to their roster, and could develop into a solid contributor on special teams and should see use at nickel and on a rotation at defensive line.

Josh Augusta (DT)

Defensive tackle Josh Augusta was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots.

Augusta, who played all four years on Missouri’s defensive line, contributed on defense and sometimes on offense. In 2016, Augusts contributed 10 carries and two rushing touchdowns.

Throughout his career at Missouri, Augusta produced 81 tackles, 19 for loss, and four sacks. The New England Patriots will add Augusta into their rotation on defense, as they seek to make a run for a sixth NFL Championship.
