Missouri Football: 10 games the Tigers should schedule
By Josh McSwain
3. Iowa
These two black and gold schools would have had a rivalry ready-made if Mizzou had decided to go to the Big Ten.
Alas, that did not happen. Still, these two teams met in the Insight Bowl after the 2010 season for the first time in 100 years, and the Hawkeyes persevered on a terrible incomplete pass call that stopped a late Mizzou drive.
These two mid-western states could get a decent rivalry going, if they wanted to. They were in the same conference for years (the Western Interstate University Football Association) at the outset, before the Hawkeyes joined the Big Ten and the Tigers the Big Eight.
Overall, the Tigers lead the series 7-6.
Head coach Kirk Ferentz rebuilt Iowa into a contending program. He led them to multiple BCS bowls and finished in the top-10, four times.
Ferentz also led the Hawkeyes to an undefeated season in 2015 before falling to Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship Game, while narrowly missing the College Football playoff.
