Missouri and Kansas ‘Border War’ coming soon?
It feels like it’s been ages since Missouri last played Kansas in the heated rivals’ “Border War.” The fact of the matter, is it will be six years since the teams last played each other, on November 26, 2011.
I’m not sure who wants it more, and I’m not so sure that a large faction of fans are pining for a rekindling of an annual game against their hated rivals. I’d like to see it come back in style, even if it resembles a leisure suit.
The last time the Tigers played the Jayhawks in a meaningful game at Arrowhead Stadium, Missouri won decidedly, 24-10. What strikes me funny is even though they lost, Kansas is content with not resuming the series.
In a backwards way, Kansas took its ball and went home. Talk about being a sore loser.

Meanwhile, Missouri has attempted to reach out to the Kansas Athletic Department to set a future date, but has been turned down like a bad prom date.
Maybe Kansas figures, “if you don’t play them (Missouri), you can’t lose to them.” While that may seem like a smart mantra to live by, you’ll never win if you don’t play.
So far, it seems that Kansas is content with holding the last “L” from six years ago. Furthermore, Missouri has bigger fish to fry in the SEC.
On the other hand, if the Big 12 winds up dissolving at some point, we could see Kansas join the SEC, which would make a future game inevitable.
The bottom line here, is (a small faction of) America wants to see Kansas and Missouri play against each other, again. There are many reasons why it’s time for the ”Border War” to resume.

As fans, we all know that a good rivalry makes for a healthy relationship. If one side of the rivalry doesn’t want to resume the series, then how can we call it a rival game?
