While Missouri softball lost in the Eugene regional last weekend, the focus shifted to baseball, which competed in the SEC Tournament. Track and field competed in the NCAA Regional Championships in Austin, Texas.
Baseball
The Tigers completed their best baseball season in the SEC this weekend as they competed in the conference tournament in Hoover, Ala. They picked up their 36th win of the season, their most in a season since 2008 (39). They also won their first SEC Tournament game for just the second time.
Their first game was a doozy against Texas A&M.
In the top of the first Mizzou scored two runs, eclipsed by the Aggies four runs in the bottom of the frame.

With the score at 6-4 in the top of the fourth, Robbie Glendenning hit a grand slam to put Mizzou ahead for good. It was the first grand slam of his career, which spurred the Tigers on to a 12-7 win.
Unfortunately, the bats went dormant in their next two games.
They lost the next day to No. 2 seed LSU, 10-3, and then lost an elimination game to two-time national champion South Carolina, 10-2.
Kameron Misner gave Mizzou a lead in the battle of the Tigers in the top of the second, but it was short-lived, as LSU jumped up, 4-1, in the bottom of the third and didn’t look back.
It was the seventh homer of the year for the freshman, most by any Mizzou freshman since 2007.
Now, Mizzou will see if its 36-21 record and good wins will be enough to get into the NCAA Regionals.
Track and Field
This has been a highlight filled year for the Tigers T&F teams, and it was on full display once again as they qualified for nationals in six events.
On the first day, Reinhard Van Zyl and Alex Pascal both qualified for nationals in men’s javelin, while Jamie Kempher made it in the 10k for the women.
On Friday, Gabi Jacobs set a school record in discus with a throw of 58.23m and punched her ticket to Eugene, and Valerie Thames qualified in the 400m hurdles.
On the last day, Karissa Schweizer qualified in the 5000m run and the 4×100 relay team of Maya Cody, LaQuisha Jackson, Tsai-Anne Joseph and Sandrae Farquharson qualified.
