Missouri Football: Ranking Missouri’s best quarterbacks since 2000
Brad Smith would be considered by many as the first real star for Mizzou during the Gary Pinkel era, and it’s easy to see why.
Smith was one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch in college football, at the time. He was the perfect example of the dual threat quarterback who could beat defenses with both his arm and his legs often posting video game like numbers.
In three of his four seasons as a starter, Smith both threw for over 2,000 yards and rushed for over 1,000. He also led Mizzou to historic victories over 10th-ranked Nebraska in 2003, and in an incredible come-from-behind victory over South Carolina at the 2005 Independence Bowl.
These victories put Missouri on the map and showed the college football world that this was not the Mizzou of the past.
