2011 vs. Texas

There was a lot of bad blood after Mizzou decided to leave for the SEC. Texas gained a lot of control and ran Nebraska out of the conference, which led to Colorado and Texas A&M jumping ship before Mizzou did, too. But they arranged a decent parting gift for the kings of the “Bevo 12.”

After Justin Tucker put the horns up 3-0, James Franklin ran in for a two-yard touchdown and then Kendial Lawrence followed with a 35-yard scamper to put Mizzou up, 14-3 at the half.

In the second half, Trey Barrow added a chip shot field goal, and Texas got a safety to make it a 17-5 final.

Former head coach Gary Pinkel had beaten all the Big 12 schools except the Longhorns going into this game, and after getting burned for 697 yards the previous week in Waco during their game against Baylor, the Mizzou defense kept the 21st-ranked horns out of the end zone. It was also the first victory over Texas for Mizzou, since 1997.
