2014 vs. South Carolina
In the other Columbia, the Tigers were down big. With less than seven minutes to go, South Carolina was up, 20-7, but Russell Hansbrough punched it in from a yard out.
With less than two minutes to go, Hansbrough found the end zone again, as he put Mizzou up, 21-20, and the defense did the rest. It was Mizzou’s first win over South Carolina in conference – getting it on their third try.
The ever inconsistent Maty Mauk definitely had a down game in this one, going 12-of-34 for 132 yards. Marcus Murphy led the team with 98 rushing yards, while Hanbrough found the end zone three times.
This game was crucial, because it earned the Tigers their first win over the Gamecocks in the SEC, and it helped the Tigers beat out Georgia for the SEC East title that season.
