Missouri Football: The 10 best games of the 2010’s, to date
By Josh McSwain
2013 vs. Texas A&M
This game sealed the first of the two SEC East championships for the Tigers. After being embarrassed by the Aggies in College Station the year before, Mizzou held Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel relatively in check as he threw for just 195 yards and one touchdown. But Mizzou won, 28-21, to seal their first trip to Atlanta.
Tra Carson opened the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown. Franklin hit Dorial Green-Beckham for a 38-yard score, and then Manziel hit Derel Walker for a 32-yard score to go up 14-7, and that’s how the game would go to the half. For the moment, it looked good for South Carolina as they would go to Atlanta, if Mizzou lost.
In the second half, Marcus Murphy ran in from two yards, and then Franklin hit Washington from five yards away to put Mizzou up, 21-14.
Bo Malena tied the game for the Aggies, and then with less than four minutes left, Josey reeled off a 57-yard touchdown to put Mizzou up for good and seal up the SEC East championship in the second season in the conference.
