SEC Media Day is coming, and Missouri ranks No. 40 in another poll
Next week, the Missouri football team will be represented by Drew Lock, J’Mon Moore, and Eric Beisel, alongside head coach Barry Odom for SEC Media Days.
Starting on Monday, select representatives from every SEC school will arrive in Hoover, Ala. for the week-long SEC Media Days. It’s a great event for fans, as it signals the impending football season.
As of last Sunday, we are exactly 60 days away from Missouri’s first meaningful game of the season against the Bears of Missouri State – I have it marked on my calendar.
According to Dave Matter of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, all athletes representing Mizzou have stood-out both on and off the field. Interestingly, Marcell Frazier wasn’t tapped to attend with the trio of Tigers, leaving us to wonder if his recent outburst was the cause of dissension.

"Senior defensive end Marcell Frazier would have been a natural candidate to represent Mizzou in Hoover but last month announced a media boycott, saying on Twitter he’d no longer do interviews with local reporters. Frazier’s 7.5 sacks in 2016 rank second among all returning SEC players."
The Missouri Tigers will be among the programs featured on Wednesday, July 12, sometime between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, eastern time.
Missouri will share Wednesday’s stage of events with Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas A&M.
Coming off its National Championship loss to Clemson, I expect that Alabama will be the media’s focal point on Wednesday – we can’t ignore the elephant in the room.
Missouri climbs to No. 40 in another poll
Missouri recently climbed the ranks of another poll; for a program that’s been down on its luck lately, I have to say that’s impressive. Of course, basketball’s success in recruiting hasn’t hurt the Tigers.
Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, assembled his rankings of overall athletic success for the 65 Power Five schools on Thursday, where Missouri finds itself holding its highest ranking, yet!
"Trajectory: Up. Despite ongoing travails in football and men’s basketball, Tigers had their highest finish ever (33rd). Non-revenue sports have never been better as a whole."
The Tigers outranked SEC programs Ole Miss (52), Vanderbilt (51), and Mississippi State (45). Oh, and if you were wondering – admit it, you were – Mizzou also outranked kansas (56).
Forde also included a further detailed explanation of the criteria for his rankings, and explained why Alabama didn’t even crack the top-25.
