Like a rogue wave, the Missouri football program experienced a windfall of recruiting commitments over the weekend.

If this past weekend was Christmas, then the Tigers received some wonderful gifts! So far, the Tigers have done their best recruiting in Texas (10), while Alabama (3), Arizona (3), Florida (3), Louisiana (3), and Michigan (3) have also proven successful for Mizzou, among others.

As a side note, the aforementioned commitment numbers are a small sampling of Missouri’s 2017 and ’18 statistics, combined.

Over the weekend, Missouri received commitments from Cam Taylor, safety from Montgomery, AL; Chad Bailey, linebacker from Missouri City, TX and Kam Scott, wide receiver from Manvel, TX.

Late last week, the Tigers also received commitments from linebacker Cameron Wilkins, from Del Valle, TX and Vincent Gray, a cornerback from Rochester, MI.

So far, Missouri’s biggest 2018 commit is 4-star linebacker Chad Bailey. He received offers from Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Michigan State, among others. So far, Bailey has tallied 219 tackles – 39 for loss, 9.5 sacks, five pass break-ups, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries – two for touchdowns, and two interceptions.

While the linebacker core hasn’t been lacking in talent or production, Missouri’s secondary has been called into question on many occasions. With the commit from Bailey, the secondary should continue to receive great help from the linebackers.

Another commit to the Tigers’ linebackers came from 3-star recruit Cameron Wilkins. Wilkins committed last week, turning down offers from Toledo, Tulsa, and Texas Tech, among others.

Wilkins, a 3-star linebacker, played multiple positions in high school, including linebacker, receiver and running back. For purpose of his commitment, so far, he has posted 132 career tackles – 24 for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass break-ups, one fumble recovery, and an interception.

Missouri also added some depth to its secondary. Cam Taylor, a 3-star safety from Montgomery, AL, declined offers from Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, and Michigan, among others.

The Tigers will also add cornerback Vincent Gray to the fold in 2018. Gray, who is a 3-star corner from Rochester, MI, turned down offers from Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnestoa, and committed to Missouri after receiving offers from Boston College and Virginia.

To wrap-up the weekend’s excitement, Mizzou also received a commitment from 3-star wide receiver Kam Scott. The Manvel, TX product turned down offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kansas State, among others. Originally predicted to commit to Baylor, Scott committed to Mizzou on July 23.

Next: Tigers add three more comitments

While fans may have been in doubt over head coach Barry Odom’s recent recruiting drought, the Tigers hit a little surge, which brings Missouri’s 2018 class to 10 commits. Now the Tigers will wait for 4-star tackles Michael Thompson and Trevor Trout to make their decisions.
