A good month of recruiting for Missouri football ended in disappointment, as the Tigers missed-out on 4-star recruit Cameron Brown.

Once again, Missouri seems to have a problem of allowing in-state talent slip away to out-of-state schools, as was the case with wide receiver Cameron Brown committing to Nebraska in a very creative way through a paintball fight, as he slowly picked-off each school, until Nebraska was the only one left.

This news is especially disappointing after what seemed to be a solid few weeks of recruiting from Odom. With commits from 4-star DT Akial Byers and 3-star DE Daniel Parker, many were hoping that Brown would follow suit, but that was not the case.

This is concerning only due to the Tigers need to keep in-state talent, especially with such a talented class of recruits coming in. If one recruit commits to Mizzou, then more will follow; if one decides to go out-of-state, then others might do the same.

Let’s hope other potential recruits like Trevor Trout and Kamyrn Babb aren’t influenced by Brown’s decision to remain out-of-state. After all, we still have six months before signing day, so a lot can change.

This year is an important year for Missouri to do well on the field and show that they can still win in the SEC, and the past two years were just bumps in the road and not where the program is heading.

If Odom focuses on building a winning culture at Mizzou then we will see these recruits wanting to join in, and if Odom can get most of these 2018 recruits, then Missouri football fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
