Missouri defensive end Nate Howard arrested again
Defensive end Nate Howard was arrested on drug charges in June. While those charges are still pending, Howard was arrested again on Tuesday.
Currently serving an indefinite suspension from the football team, Howard was arrested in June on suspicion of Possession of a Controlled Substance and suspicion of Possession of Marijuana (10 grams or less).
Howard’s next Court date for his drug charges is on Aug. 24. According to Dave Matter of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, via Twitter, Howard was arrested on Tuesday by the University of Missouri Police Department on an out-of-county warrant for failure to appear for a speeding ticket.

While the failure to appear warrant doesn’t look good on Howard, it’s also not the crime of the century. However, the defensive end, appearing to be on a slippery slope, has to handle his business better than this.
Unfortunately, for the immediate future, Howard’s return to the field for the Tigers seems highly unlikely. Once his legal matters have been resolved, then perhaps head coach Barry Odom will consider reinstating Howard.
Until then, the Tigers will continue preparations for the season as though Howard will not return to the team, which is also a very real possibility.

Fortunately for Missouri, depth at defensive end hasn’t really been an issue this year, and will allow others a chance to compete for the starting job. Currently, Akial Byers and Terez Hall are among those hoping to make an impact and show coaches that he will fill the position nicely in Howard’s absence.
