South Carolina

South Carolina is a program on the rise in the SEC. However, I’m just not convinced that this is their year. In fact, next year probably won’t be their year, either.

I would venture to guess that the Gamecocks’ basketball season was a fluke, too, but I’ll try to stick to football on this piece. South Carolina hasn’t won anything meaningful since the “Ol’ Ball Coach,” Steve Spurrier retired.

An argument could also be made that South Carolina, which shares the state with powerhouse and defending national champion Clemson, doesn’t belong in the SEC. But who am I to judge?

What is a Gamecock, anyway? From afar, I can’t make sense of the South Carolina logo. Obviously, an art major didn’t design it. I guess chicken fighting is a thing in South Carolina. But chicken is good. Who doesn’t like chicken?

The Tigers like chicken; in fact, all of the Tiger teams love chicken. So this really won’t be much of a match. Once the Tigers get past the feathery mass, there isn’t much left to the Gamecock. Mizzou sits at 2-0.
