In 2016, we were hopeful that the Tigers would win enough games to be eligible to play in a bowl game. Missouri’s chances of becoming bowl eligible dwindled fairly quickly as the Tigers reeled off five consecutive losses starting with their loss to LSU.

This year, the Tigers have something of a competitive advantage to start the season, as they play host to four opponents, two of which conference opponents.

will go undefeated in its slate of non-conference games this year. In 2016, the Tigers went 2-2 against non-conference opponents. Mizzou handily won the games it should have, for the most part, but was tripped-up by West Virginia and Middle Tennessee.

This year, the Tigers slate of “non-con” include Purdue, Missouri State, Idaho, and Connecticut – all programs which aren’t known for their prowess on the football field.

That’s not to say that those opponents won’t test Mizzou, especially Missouri State and dare I say Connecticut, but Purdue could give the Tigers a little resistance, as well. Aside from their world-famous potatoes, I’m not overly familiar with Idaho.

I’m locking it in: This year, Missouri will finish with eight wins and will finish second in the SEC East – good enough for a bowl appearance.
