Missouri Basketball: Is Michael Porter, Jr.’s injury more serious?
So far, Michael Porter, Jr. played a portion of one game for the Missouri Tigers. MPJ will reportedly miss tonight’s game at Utah, as well.
I’m not one to speculate, but Michael Porter, Jr.’s recent injury to his hip, leg – well, we don’t even have a clear answer on that – has grown concerning for fans who would like to know what, exactly, is going on?
That said, I can’t, with any amount of certainty, offer a true reason to the situation, but we are left to wonder, and assume, that no news can’t be good news. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that the injury hit at the beginning of the season.
In the meantime, the Tigers are carrying a two-game win streak to their first road game of the season. Fortunately for Mizzou, the Tigers are loaded with talent, and should still make for a competitive game against the Utes.

When it comes to playing on the road, history isn’t on Missouri’s side. Under former head coach Kim Anderson, the Tigers were winless (0-35) on the road. Will the Tigers’ current roster be able to buck that trend against equally undefeated Utah? Tonight’s home crowd theme in Salt Lake City, is red.
If Missouri comes away with a win, then the Tigers might crack into the AP top 25 by next week, which is probably a long shot, still. Missouri already landed in the CBSSports top 25 poll.
If the Tigers are in the neighborhood of four or five wins, then the top 25 is a realistic objective in November.
In the meantime, we’ll keep an ear open for any news on Michael Porter, Jr. Hopefully, that news will be forthcoming and good for Missouri. Tip-off is at 7 p.m., CT.
