Missouri Football: Tigers’ safety, Kaleb Prewett, suspended indefinitely
By Tom Thaickal
Early Wednesday morning, the Missouri Tigers handed safety Kaleb Prewett an indefinite suspension, after playing a key role in the team’s defense.
Prewett, a free safety, was pivotal to the defense last year. The Blue Springs native and Kansas State transfer compiled 53 tackles and 4 TFL’s in his first season with the Tigers. Prewett is slated to be a redshirt senior this upcoming season.
As indicated in Dave Matter’s tweet, it’s probably safe to assume this goes a little deeper than a “violation” of team rules, as campus leadership is involved.

A dismissal here could cripple the Tigers at the free safety position from a depth perspective, as Thomas Wilson has already graduated, leaving Cam Hilton as the only man at the position from last year’s two-deep.
The Tigers have a plethora of defensive back recruits who could potentially see a lot of early playing time at strong safety. They’ll have huge shoes to fill, as Prewett was one of the few bright spots on a defense that otherwise struggled mightily early on in the season.

In the meantime, Missouri’s newly-promoted defensive coordinator Ryan Walters may already have his work cut out for him. We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
