Sitting in second place in the SEC East is a great feeling for the Missouri Tigers (4-1, 1-0), as they prepare to host Ole Miss for homecoming.
The season started on a sour note for Mizzou, losing on the road to Wyoming, but the Tigers, on a four-game win streak, haven’t looked back. Last week, against Troy, not only did the Tigers lose senior linebacker Cale Garrett, they also lost senior quarterback Kelly Bryant.
Sadly, Garrett is out indefinitely; however, Bryant’s injury, a knee sprain, has his status listed as probable, according to Sports Reference. Bryant’s return for the offense would at least make Garrett’s absence on the defense a little less cumbersome, overall.
On the lighter side of Saturday’s homecoming contest against the … Rebels or Land Sharks … the weather is looking like true football weather. Saturday’s high of 62 degrees will put a little crisp feel in the air, as the low goes to 42 degrees – perfect for the “gold rush”-themed game.
Kickoff is at 7:00 PM (ET), where the temperature will be 54 degrees, with an actual feel of %0 degrees, and no precipitation at all, on game day. Winds will be out of the southwest at 14 miles per hour, with gusts of 23 miles per hour, but they will settle to around nine miles per hour with gusts of 15 miles per hour around dusk, so a light jacket would be in order — it’s also perfect hoodie weather!
Mizzou leads the series over Ole Miss, 6-1. Even though Garrett will be sorrily missed, there’s still plenty of talent on the Tigers’ defense.
Also proving good for Mizzou, is if Bryant is cleared to play, which will maintain the Tigers’ offensive rhythm. Ole Miss (3-3, 2-1), will try to extend its win streak to two, but I don’t see it happening on Saturday. I like Kelly Bryant and the Tigers’ offense to hang a 14-point win on the Rebels for homecoming.
