Missouri has never been a team to land top tier prospects consistently, but that could change under new head coach Eli Drinkwitz.

New head coach Eli Drinkwitz has wasted no time in building a solid class going into the summer cycle. Mizzou has continued their recruiting momentum by adding two future defensive backs to the secondary earlier this month.

This first commitment this month came from Daylan Carnell, a 6-2, 185-pound defensive back from Indianapolis, IN. Carnell chose Mizzou over Indiana, Cincinnati, and Central Michigan.

Ranked as the No. 460 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class by 247Sports, Carnell is a great grab for Mizzou in the beginning stages of the recruiting class.

Drinkwitz was also able to add Zxaequan Reeves, a 6-2, 180-pound defensive back from Cocoa, FL. Reeves chose Mizzou over local schools Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic.

Ranked as the No. 1,418 overall player in the 2021 class by 247Sports, Reeves was another addition to the secondary for this class.

Mizzou is targeting and landing bigger and longer defensive backs. The other two committed defensive backs, Davion Sistrunk and Darius Jackson, stand at 6-2 and the latter 6-1.

Carnell and Reeves join a 2021 class headlined by 4-star Travion Ford. Drinkwitz has 11 commitments in the 2021 class so far. Missouri seems to have game some recruiting momentum following Ennis Rakestraw’s commitment to join the 2020 class.
