Missouri football has never played these Sun Belt schools

There’s an intriguing mix of schools in the Sun Belt and it’s the conference that Missouri has played the least amount of games against. In total, the Tigers are 11-1 against the current schools in the league, with the loss coming nearly two decades ago against Troy.

Eight current Sun Belt programs have never played against Missouri and there’s a plethora of reasons why. For starters, schools like Coastal Carolina, James Madison, and Old Dominion simply have not been FBS programs for very long and haven’t had adequate chances.

Additionally, there’s Louisiana, who are scheduled to play in Columbia in 2025, so their spot on this list will only last for another two years. Interestingly enough, current head coach Eliah Drinkwitz was hired away from Appalachian State, but the Mountaineers haven’t yet played the Tigers.

The other schools are Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and South Alabama and the time simply hasn’t come for these teams to come together. It’s less likely that Missouri plays one of these teams in a bowl game, but anything’s possible. The SEC and Sun Belt are somewhat regional rivals in a way, but you’re still unlikely to see fans excited if one of these teams pops on the schedule.
