After 21 consecutive conference losses, Mizzou hoops was able to snap its conference losing streak on Tuesday night against the LSU Tigers.

Mizzou secured an 83-67 victory over LSU on Tuesday night, fueled by a balanced offensive effort and a defense that capitalized on mistakes. The win marked the Tigers' first SEC triumph since March 2023, when they defeated Tennessee

Three days after a disappointing loss to Auburn, Mizzou showed resilience, turning the tables to secure a much-needed conference win. As SEC play heats up, victories like this will be crucial in navigating one of the strongest leagues in college basketball history.

A pivotal moment came late in the game when, after LSU trimmed the lead to 13, Caleb Grill drained a three-pointer, and Mark Mitchell followed with a fastbreak dunk to push the lead to 18.

Defensively, Mizzou stifled LSU, forcing 14 turnovers—10 of which came in the first half—and racking up 10 steals spread across six players. The Tigers turned those turnovers into 20 points, effectively keeping the visitors from mounting a serious comeback.

Transition opportunities were plentiful, and the half-court sets were sharper. The Tigers shot an impressive 48% from three-point range, hitting 12 of their 25 attempts, a far different result than that of three days ago against Auburn.

Between Tamar Bates and Anthony Robinson, the tandem combined for 36 points.

Robinson had a standout game, rebounding from a scoreless performance against Auburn to score 16 points, tying his second-highest total of the season.

Bates also delivered, scoring 20 points on efficient 6-of-9 shooting and adding three steals, including a highlight-reel interception that led to a slam dunk.

In the frontcourt, Josh Gray came off the bench for the first time this season but still made a significant impact with 10 rebounds, while Trent Pierce made his second start in Gray’s place.

Mizzou remains at home for its next matchup, a Saturday afternoon game against Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. CST.
