The Missouri Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners will continue their hatred fueled rivalry this Saturday with much on the line.
The Tigers are coming off a much needed win vs Mississippi State and has positioned themselves back into the top 25 rankings.
Eli Drinkwitz has been under immense pressure following crucial losses to Vanderbilt and Texas A&M that more than likely eliminated any chance to reach the College Football playoff. Drinkwitz not only had to bounce his team back from the disappointment, but he also has to juggle the season with the very chaotic coaching carousal that has him linked as a leading candidate for several coaching vacancies. The Tigers blocked out the noise and beat the Bulldogs 49-27 in what might be their best win so far in the 2025 season. Ahmad Hardy put the nation on notice with his 300 yard and 3 touchdown performance earning him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Coach Drinkwitz and the 8-3 Tigers now have a chance to upset the number 8 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in Norman to fully knock their hated rivals out of playoff contention and elevate themselves back into the picture. This also has the potential for Eli Drinkwitz to get his signature win with Mizzou and finally get the program to take the next step forward as a national contender.
Oklahoma is coming off their best win of the season in a beat down over the 4th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. The Sooners defensive is in the upper echelon of College Football and is the best built to slow down the Mizzou rushing attack. John Mateer is still not quite himself following his wrist injury, but he is still commanding this offense to wins each week. The 7-2 Sooners are sitting at number 8 after their impressive upset and now carry the momentum to win out the season and reach the College Football playoff. Norman is one of the toughest stadiums for visiting teams to play in and the amplified hype for this match up will only elevate the moment. Oklahoma is looking to bounce back from their 2024 dramatic loss to Mizzou and establish themselves as the dominant figure in this rivalry. Expect the crowd to be rowdy, the players to be talking loud, and for emotions to get the best of both sides. The former Big 8/Big 12 rivalry is back in the SEC and this is the biggest match up for this game in a very long time.
