It's not common to see a popular college athelete make it to the next level and succeed. It's even less common to see them stay in the spotlight after they call it a career. Former Tiger quaterback found a way to make both of those things happen earlier this week.

The Texas native played for a plethora of teams after a succesful, four year career with the Tigers, highlighted with a 4th place Heisman Award Finalist nod in 2007, his junior year. That season, he threw for over 4300 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, a career low in touchdown/interception ratio.

But after an NFL career, one that lasted well over a decade, hes switching from being on the field, to up in the broadcasting booth. Daniel agreed to a deal with ESPN to be a NCAAF color commentator, and an NFL studio analyst.

This comes on the heels of a summer where Daniel saw his radio show, among several others, get cut by Fox Sports 1, less than a year after it started.

Despite the loss of his own show, The Facility, which he co-hosted alongside Emmanuel Acho, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy, Daniel gets a new beginning with a much larger network, that could bring him a number of new opportunities.

ESPN also announced what his first game would be, on August 30th Daniel will commentate Pittsburgh versus Duquesne. This season, he'll be teamed up with Clay Matvick, a long time play-by-play announcer for both ESPN and ABC.

While in the NFL, Daniel played for six teams across 14 years, starting just five career games. He's known as a career backup, signal caller, and overall great teammate and extra coach, especially later on in his career.

He's one of the most beloved players in not only Mizzou history, but the history of every NFL team he's ever competed on. Daniel has also became a fan favorite since his retirement, due to his football knowledge and presence on social media.

Tiger and NFL fans alike will be sure to tune into his broadcasts and ESPN studio anaylst appearances from now on, due to his sports IQ and loyal fanbase he's built throughout the years.
