While Missouri's season has been over for weeks, head coach Eli Drinkwitz has scooped up a player off of a team playing the National Championship. The Tigers are expected to add more depth along their defensive line by adding a transfer from the Miami Hurricanes.

According to Pete Nakos of On3, Missouri has landed defensive lineman Donta Simpson, a former three-star recruit out of Florida. The Miami transfer has three years of eligibility remaining.

The Tigers bolstered their defensive line again with the addition of Simpson. He had four tackles in a reserve role for the Hurricanes, who will face off against Indiana in the National Championship on Jan. 19. While Simpson will be a nice depth piece after losing Chris McClellan, Sterling Webb and Bralen Henderson, Drinkwitz and company will still likely be looking to add another player who can contribute right away on the defensive front.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Simpson played in 10 games for the Hurricanes, burning his redshirt in the process. He's yet another young, but promising talent on the Missouri defensive line, but lacks the experience the Tigers still have yet to find up front. Still, he's a solid run defender and could see a rotational role in Columbia.

The Tigers are now up to 14 commitments in this transfer cycle, and probably aren't close to being done. There are still holes on the defensive line and edge, and cornerback could still use another experienced player. Missouri currently has the No. 18 ranked transfer class according to 247Sports.
