Last week, Eli Drinkwitz and company created a new role on staff for the upcoming 2026 season. This week, they filled it by hiring a familiar face.
According to Matt Zenitz, Missouri is hiring Tennessee director of player personnel Jake Breske to become the Tigers' President of Player Personnel and Recruiting.
If his name rings a bell, it's because Breske was on Mizzou's recruiting staff from 2016-2021 before leaving for the Vols. Now, he's back and Drinkwitz couldn't be more excited.
"We are thrilled to bring Jake Breske back to our staff," Drinkwitz said in a release. "Jake has extensive experience in this role and a reputation for running an organized recruiting operation and being an elite talent evaluator. He has a background in coaching at both the college and high school level. Jake is a great fit for this role, and we are excited to welcome him back to Columbia."
Mizzou boosts staff ahead of the busy portal season
With the start of the transfer portal just on the horizon, Brekse will have his hands full getting for the Jan. 2 start date. The Tigers will be in need of several key replacements at cornerback, tackle and potentially even quarterback.
Breske is up for the challenge, though, and looks forward to building a championship contender.
"I am thrilled to return to Mizzou and help Coach Drinkwitz continue to construct a championship-caliber program," Breske said in the release. "The momentum the Tigers have built over the past six years is truly remarkable. I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to come back and help build on that success."
