The Tigers needed a week off more than any other team in the country this past week. They fell to a very talented Vanderbilt team, picked up their second loss of the season, and fell to No. 19 overall.
They were also picked as the No. 22 team by the committee in the initial CFP Top-25 rankings. The top-12 is far, far away for this program. However, it isn't out of the picture, as long as they're able to defend their home field versus one of the best in the country on Saturday afternoon.
Week 11 will provide the most detrimental matchups of the season, for both sides.
No. 19 Mizzou is coming into the contest 6-2, and 2-2 in the conference, good enough for the eigth overall team in the SEC Conference. Meanwhile, No. 3 Texas A&M is 8-0, including 5-0 in the conference, solidifying themselves as not only the top team in the SEC, but an argument for the best overall.
A&M was idle as well last weekend, winning their last contest, two Saturdays ago, agaisnt No. 20 LSU, in a blowout.
The Tigers also lost senior quarterback Beau Pribula in their last game, opening the window for fan favorite Matt Zollers to step in. Oh yea, he's a true freshman by the way.
Zollers is set to make his first start versus the Aggies Saturday. It'll be the first true freshman to start under center since Drew Lock in 2015.
Kickoff will be at Faurot Field, where the Tigers have been incredible in recent seasons, at 2:30 p.m. central.
Fans can watch the game on ABC, or tune in on the Tiger Radio Network, featuring Mike Kelly, Howard Richards, and Chris Gervino.
The game will also be on FuboTV, WatchESPN, the ESPN app, and SiriusXM.
This will be the 19th all-time matchup of Mizzou and the Aggies, and the underdogs are just 7-11 thus far. Their last contest was early in October of last year, where the home Aggies were up 24-0 at half, and finished with a 41-10 blowout.
Before that, they hadn't played since 2021, where Texas A&M again blewout the Tigers, this time in Columbia, 35-14. The Aggies are 3-2 since the pair of teams came from the Big12 to the SEC in 2012.
Vegas favors the traveling team by -6.5, with an Over/Under of 47.5, according to ESPN BET.
Some early rain is expected on Saturday morning, though most of the clouds are likely to be gone by kickoff, with low 60s and some sun shining down on Faurot Field come 2:30.
It's time to see if the Tigers can play spoiler. A win this weekend would provide head coach Eliah Drinkwitz with an all-time, statement win, with an opportunity to crack the playoffs next month.
