Jackson Cantwell is a program-changing recruit with the potential to make an immediate impact for whichever team lands him. The five-star offensive tackle from Nixa, Missouri, has continued to rise in recruiting rankings over the past few months.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Jackson Cantwell is the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2026. On3 gives the Missouri Tigers a 22.3% chance of landing the in-state prospect, the highest percentage of any school.
Despite receiving national recognition and a wealth of offers from major programs, Cantwell continues to show interest in Missouri, frequently returning to campus.
Jackson's father, Christian Cantwell, was honored during the second half of the Tigers' basketball victory over Ole Miss. Christian, an Olympic shot putter, is an alumnus of the University of Missouri. Jackson was seen alongside head football coach Eli Drinkwitz on Saturday, a common sight for the highly sought-after in-state recruit.
"He's not a big surprise guy, but it was fun to watch for me."

In recent weeks, programs such as Texas A&M, Miami, Oregon, and Ohio State have all made their pitches to Jackson Cantwell and his family, with a decision expected in the near future. The 2026 recruit stated last year that he didn’t want to waste time, and a commitment is anticipated before his senior season of high school football at Nixa.
247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks shared high praise for Jackson Cantwell.
"Tall, big-framed offensive tackle prospect with a stellar athletic profile and pedigree who's an advanced mover at this stage of development. Quick off the ball and flashes hand violence and general power at the point of attack. Further ahead as a run blocker than in pass protection, but displays encouraging footwork in the latter with immense potential in that category. More catcher than puncher in pass pro, but strength is there and power capacity is limitless, as evidenced by weight-room prowess (450 x 3 bench) and rare shot put and discus data. Missouri Class 5 state champion in the shot put and discus as a sophomore, and a Nike Outdoor Nationals competitor (shot put champ, fifth in discus in June 2024). Son of two former Olympics throw athletes. Closed sophomore year with astronomical personal bests of 74-9.75 and 205-4 in the shot put and discus, respectively. Projects as a high-major multi-year starter who could develop into a coveted pro prospect."
This isn’t just an isolated report; many scouts have been raving about Jackson Cantwell’s skills. His potential is off the charts, and with the right development, he could easily be on track to becoming a top draft pick and enjoying a long NFL career.
For now, it will be interesting to see how Jackson Cantwell's recruitment unfolds, with Missouri remaining the front-runner to secure this generational talent.
