Fresh off his best performance of the season in the Music City Bowl victory, Marquis Johnson announced his intentions to stay at Mizzou next season.
The 5-foot-11 receiver finished Monday's game with 7 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown. Just 24 hours later, Johnson posted to X (formerly twitter) that he'll be back in Columbia for 2025.
In his sophomore season, Johnson finished with 25 catches for 352 yards and a touchdown, but he impacted the team in many ways this year. Johnson was the team's top gunner on punt returns and also returned kickoffs, embracing his role and making the most of limited opportunities.
On Monday, with Luther Burden and Theo Wease both out, Johnson got his chances in the passing game, making the most of them. He showed his contested catch ability, and his lightning-fast speed. We can expect to see a lot more of that next season.
"It's really about Marquise and Josh's turn next," Drinkwitz said. "We're really excited. It was easy to recruit a quarterback when you can send them tape of Marquis and Josh Manning."
Mizzou is fortunate to maintain this much talent in its receivers room, and it'll be another strength for the Tigers in 2025.
