The Week 3 matchup between No. 25-ranked Missouri football and Louisiana has a new kickoff time set for Saturday.
Originally, the two teams were set to begin at 3 p.m. CT at Faurot Field; the time has now been moved up to noon.
Sources told PowerMizzou that the reason for the rescheduled start time was due to the extreme heat temperatures, which has a projected high of 96 degrees according to AccuWeather and the Weather Channel.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our student-athletes and the game-day experience for our fans," Mizzou Director of Athletics Laird Veatch said in a statement... "With extreme heat in the forecast, especially later in the afternoon, we believe it's necessary to move kickoff earlier in the day to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience possible for everyone who will be part of Saturday's sold-out game at Memorial Stadium."
The stadium gates will also now open at an earlier scheduled time than scheduled, with the Faurot Field Gates now opening at 10 a.m., two hours before kick-off time.
What hasn't changed is the networks that will be broadcasting the matchup. The two networks, ESPN+ and SEC Network+, are showing the non-conference game to audiences. The Tigers are currently the favorite, with the current spread being -27.5 points in favor of Mizzou.
After its 42-31 win over Kansas on Saturday, which put Missouri in the AP top 25 poll, the Tigers will look to keep their undefeated season going against the Ragin' Cajuns. Mizzou accumulated 595 yards of total offense against the Jayhawks, including 334 passing yards and three passing touchdowns by quarterback Beau Pribula.
