Mizzou forward Aidan Shaw departs for Boston College

The junior had a disappointing year in his third season with the Tigers.

The 2024-25 season brought several highs that fans had been hoping to see for years. Especially after the disappointing season before, there's much to be excited about for future seasons.

Despite the positives this season, there were some lows as well, with certain players struggling immensely throughout the year. The biggest name with limited contributions to the team was, by far, Aidan Shaw.

Shaw is a junior guard originally from Kansas and has been a valuable asset to head coach Dennis Gates' Tigers over the past three seasons. However, his productivity dipped this season, with his minutes decreasing as the year went on.

After averaging 4 points per game in 16 minutes last season, Shaw played just 9 minutes per game this year, contributing only 2 points. He appeared in 28 games but was often relegated to the bench, not seeing any minutes in multiple contests.

After starting 10 games last year, Shaw did not start any games this season.

Though Shaw had some big moments throughout the season, his impact wasn't enough to secure consistent minutes. With what could be his final season approaching, he decided to seek a fresh start.

He posted an X (Twitter) graphic on Monday evening, featuring a jersey swap of him in a Boston College uniform, with their logo displayed above him.

He completed the post with the caption "let's fly," indicating his commitment to the Eagles.

He took the time to thank the fans and the team for all their support over the past few seasons. It seems like it was a time he won't forget, and he's on good terms with the program, despite the abrupt departure.

Boston College finished just 12-19 last season, second to last out of 18 ACC teams. They've been active in the transfer portal as they look to rebuild for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have quickly made a potential replacement, adding former Loyola Marymount forward Jevon Porter. As of now, they haven't lost any other contributors to the transfer portal, though they'll certainly be keeping an eye on it moving forward.
