After losing offensive coordinator Kirby Moore to a head coaching vacancy at Washington State, Missouri has now turned their sights to a hiring new OC from the Big Ten.

According to Matt Zenitz, Michigan offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is emerging as the top candidate for Mizzou. Lindsey had previous stints with North Carolina and UCF before joining the Wolverines' staff last year.

Eli Drinkwitz finds his new offensive coordinator

After losing Moore, Drinkwitz indicated he would look to hire someone with plenty of experience for his new OC. He also lamented the lack of success in the passing game for the Tigers in 2025, and would be looking for someone who can reverse their struggles in that area of the offense.

“This league doesn’t allow for training wheels,” Drinkwitz said regarding his search. “There’s not a lot of first-time play callers having a lot of success. You’ve got to have some battle scars."

With Lindsey, not only does Drinkwitz get a veteran offensive coordinator, but also someone with head coaching experience. Lindsey was the head man at Troy from 2019-2021 before becoming the offensive coordinator at UCF. After UCF, he joined the Tar Heels, helping to develop current NFL MVP candidate Drake Maye.

While Lindsey may not have been on many fans' radar, he's a coach with a proven track record of success, especially at the quarterback position. Mizzou has had plenty of success in the run-game with Ahmad Hardy, but will look boost their passing attack now under Lindsey.
