Mizzou hoops was simply incredible during the 2024-25 season. Though their season ended earlier than fans had hoped, there's still much to love about the year—and even more to look forward to next season.

One of the best parts of the year was seeing some upperclassmen have huge seasons. By far the biggest breakout came from forward Caleb Grill, who has had quite the journey to where he ended his career—in Columbia.

Grill was one of the best shooters in the entire country this past season and earned an invite to the E*TRADE 3-Point Championship, a prestigious honor extended to only a select few.

He joins just seven other players in the contest, which will take place at the 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships on Thursday, April 3.

The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN at 6 p.m. and is hosted at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The full roster of players for both the 3-point and slam dunk contests will be announced later in the week.

The victor of the men's championship will compete against the winner from the women's side in what's called the Skechers Battle of the Champions later in the evening.

Grill began the year as a starter but was quickly demoted to the bench, which ultimately proved to be for the best. He posted a career-high 13.7 points per game, good for second on a Tigers team that won 22 games, their most since the 2022-23 season.

He also added 3.6 rebounds and averaged over a steal per game defensively. Most impressively, he shot nearly 40% from three, taking around five attempts per game—among the best shooting numbers in the SEC. He was widely regarded as one of the most lethal shooters in the country.

There’s no doubt that Grill put the league on notice, as he ran away with the SEC Sixth Man of the Year Award, which was announced shortly after the regular season concluded.

After bouncing around at multiple schools before coming to Mizzou, Grill quickly found a home. The team and fans alike will surely miss him as he moves on to his next stop.
