Missouri is staying active on the recruiting trail this winter, and it now looks like they'll be in the driver's seat for a big time four-star recruit.
East St. Louis running back Myson Johnson-Cook has a short-list of schools, but it appears that Mizzou may be rising to the top. On3 Sports has the Tigers as the new favorite to land the standout class of 2027 athlete. Auburn, Ole Miss and Miami also figure to be in the conversation, but it looks as though Missouri is the leader in the clubhouse.
Tigers are in prime position to land a top-50 player in the 2027 class
Johnson-Cook is a top-50 recruit in the country and the No. 2 overall athlete in the class of 2027. He's an incredible athlete and would be another in a long string of dominant running backs to play for Mizzou. Ahmad Hardy, a Doak Walker finalist this past season, will almost surely test NFL waters in 2027.
As far as Johnson-Cook, and the Tigers go, their proximity to home might be what wins the young running back over.
“I moved to Illinois and Mizzou is just over the bridge for us,” Johnson- Cook told On3 in January. “I have really strong relationships with the coaching staff and they’re been recruiting me very aggressively.
“I want to take three to four official visits and I definitely plan to visit Missouri," he added.
The Tigers' 2027 class currently has just one commit in three-star quarterback Braylen Warren, but could get a huge boost with the addition of Johnson-Cook.
