After a big win over Ole Miss last week, the Mizzou Tigers traveled to Starkville, Mississippi, for their matchup against No. 14 Mississippi State. The Tigers opened the game with a 10-2 run behind a couple of 3-pointers from Tony Perkins and Mark Mitchell. Josh Hubbard was tremendous for the Bulldogs, hitting two 3-pointers as they worked their way back into the game. This didn't last long, however, as Jacob Crews hit a big 3 for the Tigers, making the score 15-13 in favor of Mizzou. The Tigers never lost the lead from that point on and cruised to a 27-point victory. While Anthony Robinson was in foul trouble for most of the first half, he contributed two steals in the win, and the game may have featured the best defensive performance of the season. The Tigers won their fourth game of the year against a ranked opponent, improving to 17-4 on the season, just one year removed from the disastrous 8-24 record in the 2023-24 campaign.

What looked good vs. Mississippi State:

  • Shot nearly 50% from 3-point range (15/32 3FG)
  • The defense was poised and they forced Mississippi State to play the game at Mizzou’s pace
  • Josh Gray crashed the glass well and was able to come up with 4 offensive rebounds

What looked bad vs. Mississippi State:

  • Only 10 free throws were attempted all game (came into the game averaging 28.6 FTA per game)
  • Anthony Robinson was never able to settle in offensively, turning the ball over 6 times

Takeaways from the week:

  • This team has the tools and talent to beat any other roster in the country
  • Caleb Grill is the X-factor for this Mizzou offense as he has solidified himself as one of the top shooters in the country

Current Record: 17-4 (SEC: 6-2)
